Let’s meet the Maya City of Chichen Itza
A bridge with the past
As a restorer I have been able to build bridges between the local communities and their ancestors. We are incharge of safeguarding an important part of their identity. I have spent entire months, days and nights working at prehispanic and colonial buildings. The maya sites have been one of my mayor passions, the walls of estuque full of mod, the smells and sounds at the jungle. Sarahuato Monkeys, Nauyaca snakes, the intense storms, striking thunders and aluxes losing our team´s tools. The locals are part of our team too, they share their knowledge, their tangible and intangible heritage. Even though tourism has become an important income not all of them are happy about, this are sacred places to local communities and we should never forget that it is like reading a personal journey with permission.
